For the first private Montessori high school in the country, Krueger Grealis and Associates transformed a beautiful 10,730 sf. mansion designed by Charles Schweinfurth into an 8-classroom facility, complete with an art studio, library, and musical instrument practice carrels.
Included in the scope of work was the total renovation of the existing carriage house into a state of the art science lab with radiant floor heat, geothermal heating and cooling, photovoltaic electricity, an acid neutralization tank, laboratory hood and attached greenhouse.
In addition to the Straub mansion, two adjacent buildings were purchased and renovated to accommodate an international student body and growing enrollment. During the first phase of construction, the Otis mansion was converted from a three family house into a dormitory for boarding students and house parents. Two years later, the renovation of the Ferris mansion by KGA was completed to add a dining hall, classroom space and larger art studio.
